Aara continues their trilogy based on Charles Maturin’s book Melmoth
the Wanderer with their second installment Triade II: Hemera. If
you listened and enjoyed last years first part there is really nothing
here that you shouldn’t be lapping up, they continue on the same path
with an often blistering pace yet highly melodic and perfectly
composed blackmetal. The one misstep on this album is that the
normally acerbic and caustic vocals on the third song (and luckily
only the third song) give way to a more soaring operatic type which
grates to such an extent as to significantly distract. Overall this is
a small misstep which shouldn’t detract from the overall
accomplishment here. Looking forward to part three next year.
